A Branch of Photography

Shout Out!!! to John Brewer, A fashion photographer who knows his craft and has demonstrated his flow, John Brewer visited the studio for a Photo Social and gave us a run through of his work and professional journey as a Fashion, Portrait and Street photographer documenting Boston’s graffiti culture among many other neighborhood adventures. He allowed us to to ask many questions, important questions; and curiosities about film, hi photographic diversity and the ability to capture the scene with connection and soulfulness.

I met John Brewer on Quincy St. in Boston, Ma on my many walks and shoots in the neighborhoods. I believe I was photographing or scouting a location but I also noticed John Brewer had a camera, I was very intrigued and hungry to meet a photographer in the neighborhood who was out there successfully pursuing their purpose.I was currently in school doing requested photographic assignments and also wanted to do more of what I imagined at the time. This was truly an exciting moment to host John Brewer because I've always admired John Brewer for his expertise and because he is one of the first Black photographers; I witnessed from my neighborhood who gave me a card that also had a portrait of Tara Banks on it. I was honored and in great hopes that it is possible to reach your photographic desires. Back in 2010, I was photographing musician and lots of street portraits, This gave me courage to pursue my journey.

The key take away from this was following and photographing what your most curious about and what you really personally are interested in whill be a better way to use your energy & you don't have to be in a hurry to get recognition; Don't be afraid to travel and get closer to the things you like photographing. Let the work speak for itself and your passion will shine through.

I hope to see you at a Photo Social event next year 2026 with more Gems, Super Special Guest, and Experimental Workshops. Check out a few shots from the night. As photographers we should keep finding ways to grow, ask questions, it will create a much better environment for growth and forward motion.

John Brewer brought out the archives and spoke about his passion and drive to finding his way in photography and the why and where he captures moments in time.

A Image Swap was held and we each chose a photo of our liking. This is always the exiting part. ( SKY, In the red and Black Pattern chose John Brewers Photograph of Kelis the singer. ) Thank you to everyone who attended Photo Social Pixworx Studio.
